I started Sharon J’s in a retail store in September 1985. A few years later we started selling to other stores around the country and catalogues. We were a small company and did our own manufacturing in house so we had tight quality control. My husband wanted to retire after many years, so we moved to a small mountain town. I was not ready to retire, so we did local shows in the state and opened a place called ‘Mountain Aire Clothier’. In 2018, I opened an Etsy store under the same name. I do not make a seasonal collection anymore but focus most on daily wearable customized clothing by individual needs on the custom ordering side. Each item is handmade. We have zero waste, and we carefully select high-quality materials for our fabrics, which makes our clothing last longer. We wash and dry all cottons, linen, rayons, or anything washable before cutting to account for shrinkage and softness.
I wake up every day excited to go and see what I can create today. Maybe I can put a smile on someone's face. I love what I do.
